The Performance Loft : Website Project

The Performance Loft is probably the most unique performance space in Redlands, CA. And every year, The Loft's directors and teachers design programs and classes which are as distinct as the space in which they occur.

When makeHELLO came to rebuild their website, we had two major goals. The first was to give The Performance Loft control over their website. A custom-built Content Management System (CMS) allows each director and teacher to manage program and class listings. Directors can also add images to particular events. An archiving function facilitates managing the website's archival page...you know, for posterity.

The second goal was to replace the previous design with a style that captures the distinctive ambience of The Performance Loft without overwhelming the design with portraiture. The solution was to capture the space in a well-planned photograph and use that image as the website's background. In this way, the portrait of the space supports the content without upstaging it...kind of like the way the space is the supporting backdrop of every performance.
